Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the Malay community as victims of fear-mongering tactics by the Malay-language media as well as taken in by the so-called benefits for the Bumiputras.
“Malay society is influenced by the Malay media to fear others.
“As if we’re poor because of the Chinese, our house is dirty because of the Chinese, the roads are not fixed, Chinese, no money, prices of goods going up, the Chinese and the Christians,” the PKR de facto leader said at the launch of the Urban Renewal Project in Taman Maju Jaya here.

The Umno daily carried a front-page article headlined “Kristian agama rasmi?” (Christianity the official religion?), claiming the DAP was conspiring with Christian leaders to take over Putrajaya and abolish Islam as the religion of the federation.
Utusan Malaysia’s report had been based entirely on unsubstantiated blog postings by two pro-Umno bloggers, alleging that the leaders had taken a pledge during the gathering promising to take over Putrajaya, abolish Islam as the religion of the federation and install a Christian prime minister.
The paper also published a grainy photograph showing what it described as a secret pact between the DAP and pastors at a hotel in Penang last Wednesday.
DAP and Christian leaders have since voiced their rage over the allegations and vehemently denied taking any part in such a pledge.
The Permatang Pauh MP also said that the government had been painting a rosy picture of the country’s economy, yet the people had not felt the economy boom.
“They say foreign investment keeps on coming, then there are the landmark buildings, the twin towers, but for the residents, for the workers, what does development mean to us at the bottom? What do we get?
“If the rakyat do not reap the benefits, no matter how many billions are being made, how many booming companies there may be, in 20 years, we will still remain the same,” he said.

“I want to ask how much Bumiputera shares since the New Economic Policy (NEM) till now, RM5.4 billion for Bumiputras but which Bumiputras? Aren’t the Bumiputras in Maju Jaya Bumiputra as well?” he asked, claiming that the money had gone to crony companies and family members of political leaders.
Anwar’s PKR leads Pakatan Rakyat (PR) which denied Barisan Nasional (BN) its customary two-thirds parliamentary majority and cost it four states in Election 2008.
BN’s dominant partner Umno is now working to ensure it keeps the key Malay vote in the run-up to the next general election, using the media to show up weaknesses in PR.
The media and pro-Umno bloggers have also been playing up reports of a sex tape showing a man resembling Anwar. The latter will know on Monday if he has to defend himself against a second sodomy complaint.
Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and his comrades believed that the middle class creates revolution when it walks with the poor, but turns into a reactionary force if it chooses to serve the ruling elite. This stands true even today. Both the shades of the middle class are visible in Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign. The countrywide support to Anna's five-day fast and the events thereafter have shown that much of the strength of the campaign is coming from the middle class and so are the attempts to sabotage it. It reflects the struggle of right and wrong at the national level as well as within an individual. We know the right path but the temptations of power and money are too irresistible. In such a scenario, the Jan Lokpal is not going to make any difference till the middle class conscience is awakened.
The importance of the middle class can be understood through history. It mainly led the Indian freedom struggle. Many sacrificed their lives for freedom. But at the same time a section remained servile to the colonial rulers and was responsible for corrupting the system after Independence. The ugly face of the middle class was also seen in the country's partition. The thinktank of the Muslim League and the Hindu Mahasabha also came from the middle class, which eventually succeeded in dividing India. Post-independence, those who fought for the freedom kept the social conscience alive and public probity a matter of pride till Lal Bahadur Shastri became the prime minister. But, after his death and with the rise of “Indira” Congress, honesty started losing relevance in society.
Jayaprakash Narain's Sampoorna Kranti movement, in which the middle class played an important role, was successful in overthrowing a “corrupt” Congress regime in 1977. But the leaders on whom JP relied also turned out to be corrupt. The Congress was back in power. Gradually, five deadly Cs — corruption, casteism, communalism, criminalisation and commercialisation — took India into their stranglehold, particularly after 1990s’ economic reforms. The opposition parties also participated in loot when elected to power leading to formation of the public perception "sub chor hain". But still the country witnessed many movements in different parts against corruption, land acquisitions, discrimination, and injustice. Most of them are led by middle class activists but participation of the middle class in general is very little.
The middle class is an important link in the chain of corruption. It is the beneficiary as well as the victim of the corruption, be it social, economic or intellectual. The stand of the middle class on corruption is also ambivalent. “Corruption is OK till it doesn't pinch me”. A majority of politicians, bureaucrats, corporate managers, activists, journalists and other professionals come from the middle class. But very few stick to honesty. A majority compromise with values and ethics as money has become the only motive of life no matter how it comes. The “talent” prefers plush jobs over defence services. Corruption has also seeped into the forces. Everything is on sale and character is the cheapest of all. Opportunism and sycophancy are considered virtues; integrity has become a rare commodity and morality is ridiculed.
Under these circumstances, a change can come only when the middle class decides to change itself and takes centre stage of the ant-corruption tirade. A glimpse of it was seen in Anna's campaign. While people from all walks of life took part in the five-day agitation, major thrust came from the participation of urban middle class, particularly the English-speaking, which mostly remains insensitive to the plight of others and always looks for a Gandhi, a Bhagat Singh or a Jayaprakash Narayan to fight the battle on its behalf. It also keeps away from voting in elections. But in this case, a section of the urban middle class came out on the streets perhaps because of the “suffocating” atmosphere created in the country by a series of scams in the past couple of years coupled with price rise and growing social and economic insecurity.
The participation of the urban middle class in Anna's campaign caught the fancy of the media. The media hype mobilised thousands in just five days, forcing the government to accept the demand of redrafting the Jan Lokpal Bill, which some believe, if enacted, will curb corruption by punishing the corrupt. Significantly, many who took part in the agitation did not even know about Anna, his life and works. The question is what made Anna's voice stronger and louder than the media, intellectuals and civil society who have been regularly writing, speaking and agitating against the corrupt system for long? The answer seems to be that the 73-year-old man pricked the conscience of the people with his moral strength acquired through selfless work done in Maharashtra for over 30 years. The politicians had nothing to confront Anna.
It will be too early to equate Anna with Gandhi and JP but he has been able to create a positive atmosphere against corruption. The middle class participation is an encouraging sign. In the past 12 years, the middle class (as a reactionary force) was out on the streets during protests against OBC reservation and Ram temple campaign. But this time it was out for a cause which concerns all. However, the greatest threat to the anti-corruption campaign is also from the middle class. There were many dubious faces in the crowd which assembled in support of Anna. Those likely to be hit by the Lokpal are trying to sabotage the campaign. A section of the media is playing dirty by projecting “disunity” in the campaign. It is also busy debating “Gandhi's sexual preferences” instead of building pressure on corruption.
The situation in the country today reminds me of what Winston Churchill said while opposing the proposal to grant independence to India in British parliament: "Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India." Indeed, the situation is pathetic in India -- rampant corruption, nepotism, favouritism, loot of natural and public resources, criminalisation of politics and widening gap between poor and rich. While 20% of the rich and powerful control 80% of the country’s resources, 80% of the population is struggling for survival with the 20% leftover.
However, responding to Churchill’s remark, Mahatma Gandhi said: “I know there will be chaos and anarchy for sometime, but a free India will find the way out in its own way.” He warned us about the seven sins — wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, business without ethics, science without humanity, religion without sacrifice and politics without principle. He also gave us the talisman "before taking any action, whenever you are in doubt, recall the face of the poorest and weakest person you have seen and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to that person. Will it restore him/her to a control over his/her own life and destiny? Will it lead to swaraj for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? All your doubt will melt away."
The Jan Lokpal may pin down a few corrupt officials but will it change our mindset? Will it stop the dowry system? Will it put an end to sycophancy in political parties? Will it deter lawyers from taking cases of rich and mighty who get away after committing crime? Will it make doctors serve in villages and ensure teachers' presence in government schools? Will it save the media from paid news? Will it stop us from voting on caste and communal lines? Will it stop us from nepotism and favouritism? Will it make corporate houses to place probity above profit, come what may? How many of us who participated in the candle march in Anna's support have vowed not to indulge in anything illegal, unethical and immoral?
As of now, people are expressing views against corruption but I don't find any change in their attitude. In order to win the anti-corruption battle, the middle class will have to be scrupulously honest. The only weapon in the hands of those leading the anti-corruption campaign is integrity. Even a slight deviation, as in the case of the Bhushans, will give the corrupt an opportunity to crush the campaign. Attempts to sabotage are already under way in the form of public interest litigation against Anna and allegations of corruption against non-political members in the joint committee for drafting the Jan Lokpal Bill. A section of the media is playing in the hands of politicians, bureaucrats and the corporate class who do not want the Jan Lokpal bill at any cost. These reactionary forces can be defeated only by morality combined with revolutionary zeal.
Anna's anti-corruption campaign is yet to take the shape of a movement. The prerequisites of a movement are sacrifice and selflessness. It has to pass the test of time and evolve after every trial. It starts when the individual comes out of self and thinks about the welfare of others. The power of a movement is that it does not seek power for an individual or a group. Such a movement gives rise to a revolution which brings change. A movement which ends after replacing rulers and does not aim to change the mindset does not qualify to be called a revoltion. Gandhi's Swaraj, and JP's Sampoorna Kranti are still incomplete because in the core of the philosophy is changing an individual for sustainable change in society. India needs change and it can be brought about only through an ideological revolution which requires sacrifice.

The recent uproar caused by two bloggers and Utusan Malaysia show that these three parties enjoy an invisible shield of protection.
Had the situation been different and it was anti-BN bloggers who did the same, the parties concerned would long have been ISA-ed.
So who are the TWO bloggers that triggered the storm?

Agong under threat? DAP wants to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia?

The whole point of changing the official religion is to allow a Christian to become Prime Minister of this country
In order to change the status of Islam as the official religion of Malaysia, they would not only have to change the constitution with a two-third majority but would also have to get the consent of the Agong, as head of Islam in Malaysia to demote it to second spot behind Christianity...I think the only way DAP is going to achieve this is by putting a gun to the Agung's head.
I think it is time that we feed them our opinion whole, spare them the bite-size convenience and see how they like to gag on the words of others.
There would be blood on the streets if DAP were to take this vow to the streets and while Opposition types may want to accuse me of making up this story, take a look at the first photo above and the details in this posting and determine if any of this is true.
I hope and pray that it is not true but the photo above is part of two bits of information that came to me this morning and I must say that it really woke me up.
According to the message, last night DAP Jelutong organised a dinner for pastors from Sarawak and overseas at the Red Rock Hotel on Jalan Macalister in Penang and about 100 people comprising people from the consituency service centre, the pastros and jelutong ADUN Jeff Ooi and Kidurong's Chiew Chiu Seng.
Among the activities that night included the 35 pastors taking a group oath. They formed a circle and touched each other's shoulder and vowed in English to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia and put a Christian Prime Minister in office.
Today the same pastors will take part in a convention at Berjaya Hotel from 9am to 5pm and they will attend a special meeting tonight at the Jalan Khaw Sim Bee Christian centre.
To put it in further context, we should remember that in Sarawak, the DAP had said that BN is anti Christ agent, a seditious statement and religiously divisive statement that was never investigated by the police. or at least they did not tell us about any investigations on the matter.
They are openly against BN on religious grounds and they are now making it their clarion call, their rabble rousing horn.
The DAP can make their vows, that is their right but if they are planning to usurp the constitution and the Agung then something should be done by the authorities
On the other hand Malays and Muslim must today make a vow to defend the position of Islam as the official religion and the position of Malays as Bumiputra in their own homeland till the last man standing.
Never must we flinch or waver from this vow and we must make it known that we have made this vow and we are not to be trifled with.
Stop making excuses, as an Islamic country, Malaysia has been tolerant of all religious views as long as it does not encroach into Islam and in Sarawak where the Christian population is significantly larger than the Muslim community, there are more churches than mosques to reflect the situation.
What more do they want from Islam?
If true, this vow organised by DAP Jelutong is yet another insult to Islam and the Malays in Malaysia, for 50 years they lived in this country and worshipped under the protection of Islam and yet today they have taken the seditious position of trying to remove Islam as the official religion of the country that has given them so much.
The foreign element involved in the vows makes the event even more traitorous and I would like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to try and find out if this alleged vow did actually take place.
The authorities must never allow seditious elements to organise themselves and gain mass, if they do, it will be hard to stop them and this country may find itself shattered again.

Polls show Chinese reject SUPP
The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) suffered its most embarrassing defeat last night when the party, which claims to represent the Chinese community, lost to DAP in 12 seats, most of them in Chinese-majority areas.
When the polls results were announced, SUPP, the oldest party in Sarawak, found that it had only won in six of the 19 state seats it had contested. Ironically, only two of the seats are Chinese majority while the remaining four are Dayak constituencies.
The bleak outcome for the flailing party mirrored that of its coalition partner MCA’s performance in the peninsula during the Elections 2008 tsunami, when its parliamentary representation was nearly wiped out by half.
SUPP’s biggest blow last night was dealt when party president Tan Sri George Chan Hong, the six-term incumbent for the Piasau state seat was toppled by a political newbie in the DAP.
The 75-year-old Chan, who was also a deputy chief minister, was defeated by a 1,590-vote margin by first-time contender Ling Sie Kiong, a lawyer less than half his age.
Since the start of the 10-day campaign, SUPP had played the race card to woo voters, warning the Chinese community that it would lose representation in the state Cabinet if the party were to be defeated.
In an advertisement taken out in the Chinese-language dailies, SUPP’s message read, “If DAP wins in 15 seats, Barisan Nasional still forms government. If SUPP loses in 15 seats, Chinese representation in the government will be wiped out.”
But when the Chinese voters came out yesterday to cast their ballots, this message was clearly not on their minds. The party was heavily defeated in almost all of the urban and suburban Chinese-majority seats across Sarawak, mainly in the capital city, Sibu and Miri.
Of the 12 seats it lost to DAP, only two are Dayak-majority seats — Kidurong and Meradong — while the remainder are Chinese seats.
The Chinese community make up the majority in the hornbill state, followed by the Ibans, the Malay/Melanaus, Bidayuhs and the Orang Ulu.
In Kuching, SUPP also failed to defend Batu Kawah, long considered its stronghold, when incumbent Tan Joh Phoi was felled by newcomer Christina Chew, DAP’s youngest candidate at 27-years-old.
The party also failed to make inroads in Kota Sentosa, despite reports of an increase of over 1,000 postal votes in the area.
Instead, Sarawak DAP secretary Chong Chieng Jen managed a landslide victory and retained the seat with a 4,824-vote majority, more than eight times more than his previous margin in 2006.
SUPP was also devastated in its traditional strong-hold of Sibu, the timber town where the party first took roots, when it lost three out of four critical contests to a resurgent DAP.
Especially demoralising was the defeat of party vice-president Datuk Seri Tiong Thai King, the “Sibu mayor” who until this afternoon was considered near invincible.
SUPP’s only saving grace last night was in deputy secretary-general Datuk Wong Soon Koh’s thumping victory against fresh-faced challenger Alice Lau.
Soon Koh had managed to double his winning majority by more than 100 per cent compared to the votes he garnered in the 2006 Sarawak elections.
The party however lost in the Chinese majority enclaves of Pelawan, Bukit Assek and Dudong, all urban and suburban constituencies in the Sibu area. It had also lost in Meradong and Repok, two seats with significant populations of rural voters.
Soon Koh attributed his victory to his extensive services in the Chinese and Bumiputera areas.
“After the Sibu parliamentary by-election (in May 2010), I increased my visits to all the longhouses in my area. I visited them multiple times, even spending the night at their houses. I also set up five new service centres in the Chinese areas. This helped me garner support and I did not lose badly in these areas.”
When approached soon after his loss, Tiong refused to speak to reporters. Tiong lost to lawyer Yap Hoi Leong by 317 votes.

UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia has told Barisan Nasional (BN) to ignore the Chinese community for not supporting the ruling coalition during yesterday’s Sarawak elections.
The Utusan columnist, Awang Selamat, also said that BN (read: UMNO) can still win in the general election without the support of the Chinese community.
The columnist, whose pseudonym is used by Utusan editors, said that BN leaders must learn from the state election when preparing for the national polls.
Awang said the ruling coalition (ie UMNO) must not fall into a trap of granting every demands of the community if they continue to vote for DAP.
In its weekend edition Mingguan Malaysia, columnist Awang Selamat in his article “New Reality, ” said:
“The average Chinese voters have rejected BN and supported DAP.Therefore the BN state government can no longer be too generous to give place to representatives from the community. Sarawak cabinet must be reflective of the decisions and attitude of the voters.“Once again, the attitude of the Chinese voters is clear in rejecting BN. Awang believes that sentiment of Chinese voters in the peninsular is also the same.The reality is that after dominating the economy for so long, the Chinese community wants to have greater influence and become a dominant political force.The campaign to change the state government seems to only be accepted by a majority of the Chinese voters. The Bumiputera community still remains strong with BN."If the Chinese voters continue to reject BN then we (ie UMNO) should NOT worry as there will be a way out."

Calling Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as "YB BABI", whether as acronym or not, isMALICIOUS , whichever way you want to put it:
Such malicious term insults his or her RACE,RELIGION ,ANCESTRY , and IMMEDIATE FAMILY.
Thus exposing Pasquale, and if true, he is indeed Rusdi Mustapha, is par for the course in the blogosphere.
More so, if it is true that the blogger "Pasquale" is an aide to the current Prime Minister, Datuk Najib Razak.
Family Members Should NOT be Demonised
We agree fully that other family members should NOT be targeted by bloggers and commenters on blogs. We dissociate ourselves with any nasty comments made against Rusdi Mustapha's family.
And we DEPLORE such actions in no uncertain terms.
However, in the course of trying to investigate and establish whether Pasquale is indeed Rusdi Mustapha or not, it is inevitable that other family members will be identified and named to establish the real identity of Pasquale and/or Rusdi Mustapha, without names and character of their family being demonised.
And if Rusdi Mustapha is indeed Pasquale and is an AIDE to the nation's Prime Minister, his background and profile belong to public domain and he should be subject to PUBLIC scrutiny.
Pasquale (and/or Rusdi Mustapha) must play by the SAME rules with regard to bringing in family members and demonising them.

The fact remains that Rusdi Mustapha via his nickname Pasquale in his Barking Magpie blog has called his fellow Malays and Muslims who disagree with him, as "Melayu Babi" and repeatedly and maliciously called Anwar Ibrahim, "YB BABI".
Pasquale has to be exposed because he has CROSSED the Line of Decency in dealing with his fellow Malaysian Malays and Muslims in the blogosphere.
Coming from someone who is an aide in the Prime Minister's Office and calling a fellow Malay-Muslim, "Melayu-Babi" OR "YB BABI" is simply UNACCEPTABLE, even in blogosphere.
