The Chosen One (i.e. Ibrahim Ali), who says that Race Based Politics is here to stay. At least the Chosen One has picked a side. And if you recall, this wise man has not made any remarks so far, for people to soften their Hearts toward him. He is always saying the Right things to the Wrong people, and saying the Wrong things to the Right people. That is the mark of a true leader. He is a true hero of UMNO, and he is not even UMNO. Behind the lines, he is actually the one that is pulling the strings. All Hail the Chosen One!!
Even Dr M has chosen a side. He will go on fighting for what is right and for UMNO Baru. Through it all, the stage is set for the ultimate battle. Wise leaders will not always lend a helping hand, or offer words of advice. They work behind the scenes to sculpt the new landscape for our beloved country. One day they will forever be remembered as warriors, who fought for a future Malaysia,
So dear fellow Malaysians, have you chosen a side? Have your family and friends chosen their sides? Are you prepared for the impending General Election? Are you ready to exercise your right, to sculpt a new landscape for our homeland or maintain the status quo? Someone said, by not voting, you would have already voted. It doesn’t matter who you decide to vote for, just that every vote determines the future of our children, and our children’s children
If you ask us, of course we say please vote BN to preserve the status quo. Nothing has to change. Life will go back to normal. We promise no more racial flare-ups and any one that tries to disturb the peace, we will bundle them off to the ISA Kamunting camp.
We will still battle Corruption. Haven’t you heard, that Muhyiddin has made it a jihad against corruption? That’s how serious we are. If Pakatan Rakyat takes over the government, we fear that the corrupted ones will be given amnesty. We know who the corrupted ones are, and after the election we will go and catch every one of them.
It is a strange and conflicting emotion to celebrate a death. My professed beliefs include the redemption of evil and the potential good in all humanity. Yet I felt a sense of exhilaration when I read the headline "DEAD" about Osama bin Laden.
For the last 10 years Osama bin Laden has exemplified the absolute worst of religion. He was a fundamentalist and a zealot in his own belief and willing to kill those who believed differently; he recruited young people into his ranks by preying on their despair; and he carried out violence in the name of God. Through actions and belief, Osama bin Laden profaned the name of God and denigrated all people of faith.
Osama bin Laden never felt any remorse for his murderous ways and the heartbreak that trailed behind him. He viewed his actions as part of a struggle that allowed him to transcend any moral concerns. He and his followers routinely slaughtered the innocent. He was ruthless in using faith as a means to the very worst ends. To reiterate what the President said in his announcement of bin Laden's death: "Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader, he was a mass murderer of Muslims." His death is satisfying not only because of what he did, but because it prevents him from doing any more violence in the future in the name of religion.
When I think of UMNO I think of evil.
But I have to be careful in my celebrations of bin Laden's death. I was a chaplain at Columbia University during Sept. 11, 2001. Two days after the attacks, some of my students put on an art exhibit in response called Peace Kitchen. In one piece a student had put a film of bin Laden's face over a mirror so we saw our own face staring back at us through his. The point was not that there was equivalency between bin Laden and us, but to acknowledge that evil is not something that only exists outside of us that we can point to and kill once and for all. Evil doesn't work like that. All humans have the potential for grace, but we also all have the potential to sin and do evil. It is a tempting yet dangerous practice to look around the world for evil people and target them. That is just what Osama bin Laden thought he was doing. We must be vigilant that we do not become what we despise. We must be careful in the way we use religion and the name of God to further our own causes or to ever manipulate people into hate.
So, let us mute our celebrations. Let any satisfaction be grim and grounded in the foundation of justice for all who have suffered at bin Laden's bloody hands. And also justice for crimes against God -- for using God as an instrument of terror and and promoting distrust between peoples of different religions and nations. Let us put bin Laden's body in the ground, and in doing so bury his disastrous and blasphemous religious legacy.
Ultimately, judgment is not ours to make. But I believe in a just God and I believe that Osama bin Laden, for all the talk of rewards in heaven, will not be enjoying his meeting with the God of Creation.
PKR’s Zuraida Kamaruddin today accused Datuk Seri Najib Razak of harbouring a devious plan to wrest the country’s richest state from Pakatan Rakyat (PR), after he urged the Selangor Umno to retake it by any means possible.
The Ampang MP warned Najib that Selangor PR’s election machinery was battle-ready and prepared to take on Barian Nasional (BN) at any time.
“Again, I remind Najib, do not challenge us. We are ready to face the 13th general election at any time.
“We have prepared our election machinery and strengthened our line of defence to shield Selangor from the tyranny and oppression of Umno, in every possible way,” she said in a statement today.
Zuraida, the Wanita PKR chief, was countering the prime minister’s instruction to Selangor Umno last night to recapture the state with whatever “weapon was at their disposal”.
“We must not allow our image to continue to be besmirched and wallow because of the defeat.
“We must bounce back with a renewed determination to redeem ourselves,” the Umno president was quoted as saying on Bernama Online.
PR now holds 35 out of the 56 state seats in the Selangor assembly.
Zuraida said Najib’s statement was a clear indication that the prime minister was ready to “play dirty” in order to recapture Selangor from PR.
“It clearly shows that he will play dirty to grab Selangor. I am confident he will use even worse tactics than what was used in Perak,” she said.
Najib has been repeatedly accused by the opposition of having masterminded the power grab in Perak, resulting in state PR government being replaced by BN in 2009.
“Do not challenge us. Do not be a traitor to the people of Selangor. From his statement, it proves that Najib has become a desperado, going crazy over his intention to rule Selangor,” said Zuraida.
She added that if Najib truly wanted to recapture Selangor and is brave enough to face the people, he should meet PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a debate.
“It can be held in my parliamentary constituency of Ampang and I will host it,” she said.
Najib has turned down similar requests from the opposition to debate with Anwar on PR’s 100-day reform promises in its Buku Jingga.
PAS vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar has painted Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Malay party as the greatest danger to the country, as he listed out why the Islamist party will not link forces with Umno.
“We are against Umno not because they are Umno, we are against the party because they are oppressive, they suppress the citizens, they are national robbers and they (Umno, and not its members) are public enemy No. 1,” Mahfuz said in a statement today.
The senior PAS leader appeared to be responding to calls from those who want to see the two political arch-foes link up and become a united front for the Malay-Muslim community.Recently, Palestinian rivals Fatah and Hamas agreed to join up and battle Israel to free their homeland.Mahfuz noted that Malaysia’s Malay-Muslim politics have been compared to the latest political development in the Middle East, with some questioning why Umno and PAS could not do the same.Mahfuz said that Hamas only agreed to unite with Fatah for the sole aim of freeing Palestine from Israel’s oppressive colonisation.“How can PAS unite with Umno when it is Umno that is oppressing Malaysian citizens?” he argued.“How can we PAS unite with those that practise a corrupt culture, who practice a gangster-like political culture and make fun of Allah’s laws?” he added.
The Pokok Sena MP challenged Umno to amend the Federal Constitution and other laws to return oil royalty payments to Kelantan and Terengganu, which had been halted after the BN lost the states.Kelantan is suing national oil company Petronas for millions in outstanding oil royalties owed to the state since 1975.The five per cent royalty payment to Terengganu was indirectly resumed in 2004, as “goodwill payments”, after BN returned to power there.Mahfuz also dared Umno to set up royal panels to investigate several multimillion ringgit scandals, such as the Scorpene submarine purchase; the Bumiputera equity issue; outflows from oil and gas revenue; and the death of senior Customs man, Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamad, while in the custody of national graftbusters last month.“If Umno is honest, it will present these constitutional and legal amendments,” he said.The PAS lawmaker said in the meantime, his party will continue to push through its agenda to amend the Constitution and the country’s laws to ensure the judiciary is truly independent and the Attorney General is accountable to Parliament.He also recommended that federal agencies, namely the Election Commission, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Registrar of Societies, be placed under Parliament’s watch, together with an Independent Police Complaints and Misconducts Commission (IPCMC) recommended by a previous royal panel.Mahfuz said PAS’s struggle was “to bring back the Supremacy of Parliament that had been neglected by Umno/BN since Independence”
