ROSMAH IS FIDDLING WHILE UMNO BURNING,

INTRIGUING AND INTERESTING RAJA NONG  NONG CHIK'S DAUGHTER FOR THE SEAT TO THE RETURNING OFFICER

PM Najib said it all...we must defend PJ at all cost...so now we know who the motivator is
Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar shocked her supporters last night by saying the person who was her election returning officer (RO) on March 8, 2008, warned her she would not win the coming general election if he were to serve as RO again.
Nurul have no reason to lie as its not she who decides who wins but the public. We are facing a situation where the public trust for the EC have raised many questions. 250,000 people cannot be wrong when they took a risk to send a message to the EC that the trust is not there and they demand a transparent, clean and fair elections. If the RO have made this statement then he should be replaced

At the last GE, Nurul won unexpectedly (in BN's eyes). This time BN will be prepared. I don't think they will risk another loss. "At any cost."   this was the same RO who attempted to help bring in 13 boxes of 'new ballot papers' that suddenly appeared after the counting and several vote recounts had finished, in a desperate attempt to tamper with the vote and help NFC-Queen Shahrizat Jalil win the election illegally. Fortunately there were enough people present to prevent the blatant electoral fraud from happening. Why is he still walking around as a free man? I hope MP Nurul Izzah will identify the RO so that the election monitors like TindakMalaysia, UndiMalaysia and MAFREL can mark him as one of the Unclean.y might have lost out lucrative government business deal for his children and he is linking with his job as RO in last election. This is the issue when civil servants forget about their role in the administration of the country. can't understand such officers.
may nong chik has offered his daughter if he can the seat for himThey are not fit to hold office. Let's all pray Rafizi will be around and become a minister in the next Cabinet. We need you, brother.

The handful of paid Umno cybertroopers who attempt to "neutralize" public opinion against BN's excesses can be easily identified by a strange reek of the undead - they stink like the living dead, golems created by Umno through the dark arts. They resemble humans but possess no conscience and, therefore, no soul. However, they are certainly not lacking in cunning - the same reptilian cunning that has become Mahathir's trademark.
Malaysian politics is getting into MAFIA USA style. People of Malaysia, collectively pray for the safety and well being of our good young leaders (THE TRUE BLOOD of 1MALAYSIA). We have people power - be prepared to take to the streets if these young people are taken without warrant or trial. Nurul is right to be worried - there is a plot (if you read RPK) from Diam down to the RO to put Nong Chik in place. Let us also pray that Allah will open the eyes of the simple and trusting voters in Lembah Pantai and that they will not be taken in by bribes of free food, cash and big talk from Nong CHik and his crew. All Malaysians, unite for this once to rid Malaysia of UMNO and its greedy arrogant leaders, MCA the backup liars and gleaners, MIC and Gerakan. Be on the look out for all sorts of desperate moves by UMNO to stay in power.Firstly, the people who are entrusted with a responsibility that requires impartiality and integrity such as the EC (including ROs) or MACC or police or whatever, if they abuse their position, take sides, penalise or victimise people fighting for their rights or watchdog NGOs , these are the real enemies of the King and country. For those in this category, please don't bother praying, your place in hell is reserved. Secondly it is a shocking embrassment to the country if whistleblowers such as Rafizi and Nurul Izzah are harrased and persecuted while the real criminals remain absolutely untouchable. Perhaps some in the judiciary have reservations as well. The rude response by this RO is just an example to show how the ROs are being "trained" to be extremely assertive and be prepared to do anything to save BN in GE13. The first and the final rule for an RO should be to remain like a rock and stay completely neutral whatever the circumstances or the outcome. Looks like that paramount rule has already been removed and thrown into the gutters by the EC. Of course, Umno/BN are worried of the likes of Nurul Izzah, Rafizi Ramli, Gobind Singh Deo, Nizar Jamaluddin, Lim Guan Eng, Tony Pua and other young and aspiring leaders of Pakatan for they represent the future of the country. It's the duty of the Rakyat to return them in the next general election

Pantai Indian voters

Raja Nong Chik wanted Lembah Pantai back in March 2008: which is why his people crossed over to campaign for Nurul Izzah when Shahrizat got that seat instead. Bangsar Bala (not PI Bala) can confirm this., with some financial considerations. And the ‘handler’ here, of course, is Raja Nong Chik. And Shahrizat is pissed big time because she too knows it is Raja Nong Chik who supplied the knife to cut her throat. However, winning the Lembah Pantai seat is not as simple as A-B-C. Raja Nong Chik can shove Shahrizat aside — which is easy since she is dirty — but how does he also shove Nurul Izzah Anwar aside, the current Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai?
Raja Nong Chik then came out with a brilliant plan. Why not use EPF’s money for this? Build houses for the Malays and since the Malays do not have money to pay for these houses (and they do not qualify in getting loans from the bank) get EPF to pay instead?
Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin has denied that using RM1.5 billion from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to give home loans to unqualified buyers meant that the federal government had run out of money. However, he refused to disclose why Putrajaya was resorting to borrowing money from the workers’ retirement
Indeed one begins to wonder why is it that our Malaysian politicians are getting involved in businesses when they should be in the business of caring for the welfare and well being of the rakyat on a full time basis. Are they not paid a salary with perks to govern?
Almost everyone of the BN politicians are into some kind of business, with many of them involved in multi-million Ringgit schemes. Any wise and seasoned business man or woman — big or small– will not hesitate to tell you that to earn your bucks you have to eat, sleep and walk business. It is a 24/7 job.
For a complete understanding of what precipitated this mass movement, we need to look back at the oppression and failure of the conglomerate of the political, bureaucratic and ruling corporate class over these years, along with the various short and long-lived violent and non-violent responses to the shortcomings of this
In Malaysia, you go into politics for business
In many forward looking nations elsewhere, successful businessmen surrender their business wealth in order to champion citizens’ interests and nation building. They bring to the field of governance their enriched knowledge of transforming economies for the people.
In our case, we get into politics to enrich our own families at the expense of the rakyat and the nation. Perhaps the learned and untainted minds of Malaysia should do a through study and publish the truth of how our civil servant-turned-politicians and street smart talkers turned political kingpins have amassed their own and their families wealth through their seeming political leadership.
No small wonder than that there is so much fear in making public the wealth and assets of politicians and so much of feet dragging till this date.
More interested in mega-business
Now how on earth do our politicians have the time to be involved in healthy and wise politics serving in the best interest of the rakyat and the nation if they are also into mega-buck businesses?
Besides, one also wonders how on earth can they place rakyat first before self if they have their own profits to worry about, day and night. Should the government of the day not ban all politicians from indulging in business deals and leave business to the business world?
Not in Malaysia. Tun Dr Mahathir has already not only sowed the seeds through his grand plan of privatization, but has successfully nurtured it into a must-do political culture today. Name one politician in the BN fold who has not made money – not from his frugal savings from the wages but from all kinds of business deals, including wheeler-deals.
This is why the politics of Malaysia is inter-woven so intricately with corruption ranging from patronizing to compromising, from abuse of power to all kinds of coveted and secret approvals. And to provide enough insurance we have the Official Secrets Act to give blanket to all the unknown deals.
Indeed it is sad. It is heart breaking. It is devastating to the very soul of nation-building. When politicians place business as theit right and blank-cheque mandate, we compromise governance. And in that process the rakyat become poorer through lost and abused opportunities.
Poor Malaysians. They can only court the self-consolation in the face of that hopelessness of “apa boleh buat; jangi kita dapat sedikit cukup lah itu”.
There are various definitions of political power but these are not limited to heads of states, political parties or organizations, it is the extent to which a person or group can influence society whether formally or informally.
UMNO used to be able to wield its power freely and was able to re-engineer society – for better or for worse depending on whether you were Malay or non-Malay. But it also plundered the wealth of the country, imposed all sorts of regulations, restrictions, changed the laws, amended the constitution, and indulged in scandals galore.
But now, it is as if a veil has been lifted from the people’s eyes. They are calling UMNO’s bluff. Let’s call a spade a spade. These days, UMNO-BN is seen as little better than a band of ruthless thieves, stealing whatever they want with the right hand and giving back a trickle with the left,  complete with charades and expensive shenanigans.
Today, the Malays are even more divided than before
UMNO was never strong because it is a race-based party that basically only wanted to cater for the Malays at a time when the Malays were already divided. Till today, the Malay community remains divided although UMNO has prospered, sky-rocketing in fact until 2008. What brought about the political tsunami that saw Umno lose its two-thirds dominance of parliamentary seats for the first ever? Was it the non-Malays who finally rejected the BN? Yes, to a huge extent. But to an even greater degree, the 2008 electoral upset was due to the Malays who have been disagreeing with Umno finally doing something about their long-held disapproval for the party’s wayward behavior.
Sad to say, UMNO leaders still believe in their own propaganda and think they are invincible and have the right to force a political monopoly on the country! What they should be doing, they are not. For example, nobody in UMNO is trying to revamp and strengthen the party at all, although everyone knows Umno needs reforms the most. Why is this so? Firstly, all of them are busy fighting each other for position and money. They have forgotten that it was UMNO that gave them their positions and protected them from their own faults, shortcomings and wrongdoings. This goes to show that members’ love for UMNO is not real. The party is merely a means to an end. And now that this end is no longer so easily achievable, one can be sure that many in UMNO will turn traitor and jump ship to the opposition. Those with a good record will be accepted, those without will be left behind.
Because it opted to focus only on the Malays, UMNO could not become strong. It is now so weak it cannot produce much fire-power anymore. In fact, it is just like a damaged nuclear reactor that can no longer produce enough power, only enough to vent off steam and hot air. This hot air has been reflected in the actions of various UMNO leaders, supporters, ex-ministers and ex-prime ministers. All of them not only have lost the plot but have no idea on how to make UMNO strong again, capable of leading the country forward. And Najib, like all other UMNO members, cannot fall back on UMNO to save himself.
Dismal results from Najib
Despite embarking on his much hyped “transformation programs”, the results are dismal and Najib himself disappointed. He has no more tricks in the bag and no more clever ideas on what to do with the economy. Why try anyway, when he is bound to be rejected by his rivals such ex-president Mahathir Mohamad, who will surely use any sign of liberalism to gather support from the right-wing conservatives in UMNO?
A sign of how bankrupt of ideas Najib has become is in the way he gave the RM100 to each school student, RM200 vouchers to college students and RM500 for households earning less than RM3,000 per month. No long-term planning or mechanism. Just cash – direct incentives! When all this cash is used up, what happens then? What safety net or next-generation revenue-generator can young Malaysians look forward to?
Indeed, UMNO is now at its weakest – wrecked by poor leadership and intense infighting. An example is how hard it has to struggle to get rid of its Wanita chief Shahrizat Jalil, even though she has nowhere the amount of influence her predecessor Rafida Aziz had.
The manner in which Najib keeps procrastinating on when to hold the 13th general election is another obvious sign. With about a year to go before the BN’s full 5-year term expires, Najib remains the only PM in Malaysia’s history not to have won a mandate of his own.
The economic debate that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has challenged Najib to engage in is surely another sign of weakness. Najib’s persistent refusal only means that he is not prepared and has no answers to the barrage of questions that Anwar would surely attack him with.
More missteps
After 54 years of plundering and mismanagement by UMNO-BN, Najib is right to constantly complain about the lack of available resources to push through his programs. But why look at reducing government subsidies when he can firstly go after the overly fat and re-negotiable toll concession and IPP deals? Why sacrifice the ordinary folk first and not the crony companies? This was another big black mark his administration earned when it it tried to “rationalize” subsidies and raise prices of essential consumer goods.
In the arena of democracy, Najib has tried to create a legacy for himself. He has formed the International Global Movement of the Moderates but it has backfired. His own repressive acts – such as in the harsh and brutal crackdown on the July 9 Bersih rally for free and fair elections – have robbed his newly-born GMM of its credibility.
Another recent headache which again confirms the doom that is facing Umno is the way the Najib administration has rubbed the students’ movement in the country the wrong way. Malaysia is now considered to be worse than even Myanmar in disallowing peaceful assembly and banning students from taking part in politics.
Illusions of strength
Then, his personal shortcomings have been too numerous not to have affected his standing. Not only is he dogged by the Altantuya murder scandal and the RM570million Scorpenes kickback debacle, he has been caught red-handed abusing power by making expensive official trips to coincide with his personal holidays or events, such as his daughter’s Kazakhstan’s wedding last year and the Perth holiday during the National Day break in August.
With all else failing and no ‘grand old UMNO’ to fall back on, Najib resorted to shady foreign media advisers including APCO, FBC Media, cyber troopers and bloggers like Raja Petra Kamaruddin to pain a glorious but false portrait of his leadership. Even after spending hundreds of millions on publicity and spin alone, Najib has not been able to improve his image or popularity.
The Malaysian PM has been forced to launch various incentives including using the social media to reach out to the people with cartoon-like websites such as the Ah Jib Gor Facebook page. His sycophants have even come out with a “Love Najib” campaign. When efforts reach such lengths, one knows the time has come to draw the curtains on Umno and Najib.

Malaysia to be a high-income nation? Tell this to the millions of households fighting over the RM500 BR1M vouchers.’
Could it possibly be true?  Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak Has begun to believe what some admirers have started to suggest with incremental passion, that he is Malaysia best-ever Prime Minister? The answer must be no. He is clearly not self-delusional.
the elitism in hin is for real. You have no notion of equity and social justice. It is therefore not surprising you could stay in a RM64,000 suite without any qualm and your wife can go shopping with utmost obscenity.

After PRU 13, spirit will not be so strong anymore when put to trial for crime commited!
How can the PM be proud of this while most Malaysians are wallowing in depression of making ends meet? Why have we become defeatists just because PKR has done such a brilliant job of exposing this strangely gut-wrenching but simultaneously hilarious loot of our wealth in the of Malaysia creating billionaires while the majority are stuck with high cost of living expenses brought on by these billionaires who control the major slice of the economy. Why are we so depressed merely because the world media has turned Malaysia’s image into a toilet seat, thereby fulfilling voters dream first sketched in “An Area of Darkness” ? Away with the frozen frown! You don’t need to summon Agatha Christie to solve the plot. Most of our roads are constructed for annual destruction, since there is more money to be made in rebuilding than in building. Governments are not merely hand-in-glove with contractors; they are hand-in-pocket. Shared loot is safe loot.
Contractors are not particularly worried about the law; they have lawyers with Satyam on their tongues. A congenial cynic suggested that it was time Parliament passed legislation decreeing that anyone worth more than 10million would automatically be given bail. Businessmen make money all over the world. The difference is the distance between profit and avarice. The first has limits; greed has none.
Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar today claimed that Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur’s (DBKL) funds allocated for public housing residents’ association activities last year were used up for events involving the minister of federal territories and urban well-being.
At a press conference in Bangsar today, Nurul Izzah ( right ) said her constituents have complained of being turned down by DBKL and told that the money had gone to “Raja Nong Chik’s (Zainal Abidin) programme”.
“When they called DBKL to use their allocation, they were told that it was used for a programme organised by Umno which invited the minister.
“But when we brought this matter up with DBKL, the mayor said that we have to bring the matter up to the ministry as he is only a civil servant,” she added.
No money left for resident association
Confirming this, Apartment Sri Putra resident association (RA) committee member Abdul Rahim Mohd Noor said a fire prevention programme planned for April 2011 was aborted for this reason.
“When we called the DBKL, an official said the allocation was used for two programmes (including) a ‘Raja Nong Chik (left) with locals’ event organised by the local Umno branch,” he said.
Abdul Rahim claimed the DBKL officer told him that the remainder portion of the RM10,000 in-kind assistance allocated for the RA was used for a maulidur rasul event organised by the local surau committee.
He said DBKL allocated a certain amount each year for RA activities, which is provided in the form of logistics and food.
Abdul Rahim added that this year’s allocation has been reduced to RM7,000 but the RA has yet to make any request.
Other MPs in Kuala Lumpur contacted by Malaysiakini said they have not received similar complaints.
The portal also tried to contact the relevant DBKL department by telephone and email for comments but has yet to receive any.
In our country, corruption has become mainstream; honesty is a rivulet, which is why the System has developed such sophisticated expertise at deflecting street anger. The game is played out in full public view, and we do not see hypocrisy trapping us in slow motion.
What does the System do when it does not have an answer? It changes the question.Witness how the rage against corruption in NFC has been manoeuvred into a debate on whether they can be held successfully The simple fact is that they cannot take any decisions because all the decisions have already been taken during The Era of Evil  Can Najib reverse any of the deals that have been exposed remorselessly by media? Will it return, without payment, the treadmills to those who have become treadmillionaires? Sanctimonious noises about the guilty being punished after the event are meaningless. How? If a contract has been sealed at a particular price by mutual consent, and then executed, how can the contractor be held guilty of malpractice? This is more dust in the eyes of a nation already semi-blind with sleaze.
How can the PM be proud of this while most Malaysians are wallowing in depression of making ends meet?
The 30 billionaires in Malaysia, did Najib say that majority of them are cronies of Umno and BN?We are not interested in billionaires. We are more interested in how to lower our cost of living and at the same time raising our standard of living.Najib, why boast about the billionaires? Why didn’t you boast of the high number of corrupt people present at the‘Malaysia Chinese at the Political Crossroads’ conference? We are not interested in the billionaires who get where they are due to the right connections and the greasing the palms of the political elite. What is most important is how to help the many who are still languishing in poverty or semi-poverty.This is a rich man’s conference to showcase one’s wealth and power. You should meet the poor people find out their woes and try to help them.
Capitalism has way of making a few very wealthy at the expense of the majority. Though it may bring progress and better infrastructure, the poor are enslaved and they suffer most.
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor declared to Perkasa members tonight that the constant attacks against her by “those on the other side” have not killed her spirit and inspiration to serve the country.
The wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said, however, that such attacks were not unusual for anyone in her position.
After PRU 13, spirit will not be tso strong anymore when put to trial for crime commited!
“So to me… when we are in such positions we have to face slander. But no matter what, it is my hope that those here or from the other side would not believe what has been said,” she told a packed charity dinner organised by the Malay rights group’s women’s wing Wiranita Perkasa.
“I have been the target of much slander and lies from those on the other side but no matter what I face, insyaallah, my spirit remains strong for the people,” she said.
Rosmah cited the example of criticisms over the honorary Doctor of Law degree conferred to her last week by Australia’s Curtin University.
The honorary doctorate was awarded to Rosmah in recognition of her efforts in the development of education, particularly children’s education, through the Permata Negara programme.
“Those who said I paid for the degree, why should I?
“It would be better to give a contribution to Wiranita Perkasa.
“They accuse me in that manner, it is not right. Just because they usually pay, they think I paid too,” she said to applause from the crowd.
Rosmah added that the doctorate was not due to her successes alone but those of all Malaysians.
Earlier during the function, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali sang praises of the prime minister’s wife, saying that the Malay rights group would always back Najib and his administration’s policies.
“We all know that Datin Seri Rosmah is not only the prime minister’s wife, but if we follow news reports, we see how active she is in carrying out her duties… We are in awe of her leadership,” he said.
Ibrahim urged Rosmah to continue attending Perkasa functions if time permits, adding: “Thank you, Datin Seri. We all love you.”

MISUSE OF ‘KETUANANMELAYU’

ONE HAS TO WONDER TO WHAT DEGREE OF INFLUENCE DOES WOMEN’S MINISTER SHARIZAT JALIL HAVE OVER PRIME MINISTER NAJIB RAZAK AND HIS DEPUTY  MUHYIDDIN YASSIN,

INDEED, DESPITE THE MOUNTAIN OF DEMANDS TO HAVE HER EITHER REMOVED FORCIBLY OR TO RESIGN VOLUNTARILY, SHE REMAINS A FIXTURE IN THE BOTH IN THE MALAYSIAN CABINET AND THE JOLLY PIRATE SHIP THAT IS UMNO – A CORRUPTION-RIDDLED PARTY THAT HAS RULED MALAYSIA SINCE 1957.

People want to know about the events that occurred in the months leading up to the murder of the Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu (left) in October 2006; but the investigation into her death was never intended to reveal the truth.
Those at the top realise that an inquiry helps to calm the public and presents a platform for disseminating the official version. Thus, the public never learns about the hidden web of political patronage, secret alliances and shared interests.
When the private investigator P Balasubramaniam (Bala) discovered that his testimony as a witness in Altantuya’s murder was not revealed, and the evidence suppressed, he felt it necessary to make a statutory declaration (SD). His family was then threatened and his silence bought in order for him to retract his SD. The day after, he issued a sanitised version of the SD.
The press conference in London, on July 7, held by Bala and his team of lawyers, was supposed to be a platform to discuss issues raised during a scheduled interview of Bala by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). When the MACC cancelled at the last minute, their non-appearance generated more questions than answers.
When nothing new was reported at the press conference on July 7, the public reaction, gleaned from the feedback of the online news portals, was astounding. These ranged from indifference to incredulity.
Did they want Bala to produce the bullets which killed Altantuya? Did they really expect him to produce films of her body being blown apart in the jungle?
Maybe they should reflect on the various links that point to the top, rather than expect drama.
The people involved – chief inspector Azilah Hadri, corporal Sirul Azhar Umar (two of Najib’s bodyguards who were later sentenced to death for Altantuya’s murder), Nasir Safar (Najib’s aide seen outside Abdul Razak Baginda’s house the night of Altantuya’s abduction), Abdul Razak Baginda (Najib’s personal confidante and friend) and Musa Safri (Najib’s ADC) – all have links to the PM.
Amongst other things, the police recorded no less than five statements from Bala, but all the references to the PM have been deleted.
Why was Altantuya silenced?
Was Altantuya silenced because she pointed out that these submarines were faulty? Did she realise that we were paying billions for useless submarines? These deals were done when Najib was defence minister.
Alternatively perhaps, she overlooked serious defects in the submarines.
Later, during the trial for Altantuya’s murder, Burmaa Oyunchimeg (right), Altantuya’s cousin, read out a hand-written letter to the court that is believed to have been Altantuya’s final note. It said, “is powerfull person, he have money, he have connection in police, in government. He trying to scare me, trying to kill me.” [sic]
If Altantuya’s command of English was good, why would she write in pidgin English? Did she really write the message and has a handwriting expert verified this? Altantuya’s cousin testified that she had seen a picture of Najib together with the dead woman. However, she was quickly hushed by both defence and prosecution lawyers and the picture has not been produced. Why?
Altantuya’s immigration details were erased from the system. Who has that kind of authority?
After the press conference in London, Bala says that he has no regrets and that his conscience is clear. He did, however, express one disappointment: “Those working for Najib don’t want the truth to prevail.”
Despite the crucial inquiry behind Bala’s statutory declarations and the substandard submarines, we must not be distracted from seeking justice for Altantuya.
Altantuya’s children and parents need closure. Bala and his family are forced to live in exile. They want to return home. And the Malaysians are demanding that justice is served.
Malaysians are wondering why so much of their money was wasted on these Scorpene submarines. In addition, the administration is seemingly dragging its feet in dispensing justice; the public are now demanding a change of government.
If Abdul Razak Baginda (right) had immediate access to the corridors of power, why did he need a private investigator, Bala, masquerading as a bouncer to protect him from Altantuya? Surely a quick phone call would ensure that Altantuya could be jailed for public disorder or harassment, or at worst be deported by immigration?
Bala a fall-guy?
It is probable that the plan to kill Altantuya was conceived weeks before her death and involved a fall-guy, Bala, who was hired ostensibly to protect Abdul Razak Baginda.
It was reported that Bala and his assistant had already harassed Altantuya six or seven times after their arrival in Malaysia on Oct 8, 2006. There would have been telephone records or witness reports of Bala intimidating Altantuya. These would probably have been used against him in the trumped-up murder charge.
It is highly likely that this plan was poorly executed, with plenty of loose-ends. In addition, the unforeseen appearance of Altantuya’s cousins and the underpaid taxi-driver, who corroborated the cousins’ evidence, messed things up. Bala should consider himself lucky for he has escaped with his life, albeit one in exile.
Even if we were to ignore Bala, Najib, Razak Baginda, the submarines and the distasteful aspects of this case, we must not overlook the fact that one girl was killed in suspicious circumstances.
Who speaks for Altantuya? Who will avenge her death?
After the press conference, Bala was asked what he wished would happen next. He said, “I want the Malaysian public to know the truth.”
This case covers France, Mongolia and Malaysia; it has yet to reach its climax. If there is nothing to hide, then why are many things kept secret? It is an important question to which the Malaysian people have yet to receive an answer.
It is also a case that is worthy of Miss Marple
 The Muhyiddin-Stamford Land Conspiracy Matter
The following are excerpts from various reports about a matter heard in the mid-90s, in which Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and others were sued by property developer Stamford Holdings S/B:
Stamford Holdings Sdn. Bhd. has sued Muhyiddin Yassin, chief minister of the Johor state, and businessmen Yahya Talib and Syed Mokhtar Albukhary for damages for alleged conspiracy in acquiring land in Johor through the Land Acquisition Act, the Bernama national news agency reported Friday.
According to Bernama, Stamford Holdings claimed the three had abused provisions of the Act to acquire its 6,600 acres of land through the Johor State Islamic Economic Development Corporation.
The suit was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court early this month but was transferred Friday to the Johor Baru High Court, Bernama said.
Stamford Holdings also named the Johor state government as a defendant in the suit, alleging that Muhyiddin and the two businessmen conspired to use the state government’s authority to acquire the land.
According to the news report, Stamford Holdings wants the court to declare that the Johor State Islamic Economic Development Corporation was not entitled to invoke provisions of the Land Acquisition Act to acquire a private landed property.
(Malaysia’s Stamford Sues Minister, Businessmen – Report
17 February 1995)
The facts of the matter as reported by Murray Hiebert , FEER:
Stamford’s court documents insist that the company’s relationship with the former chief minister dates back to 1988. Four years earlier, the firm had tried to develop some of its huge land holdings near the state capital of Johor Baru. But Stamford couldn’t get approval for its project until its directors met two men who were allegedly Muhyiddin’s business partners, Syed Mokhtar Albukhary and Datuk Yahaya Tabib.
The two arranged a meeting in Singapore between the firm’s representatives and the former chief minister, the firm’s documents allege. Within a year, Stamford and the three men had formed a 70-30 joint venture to develop some 724 hectares of land. When the property was sold in 1994, the Muhyiddin group’s initial investment of M$1.8 million ($735,000) had soared to M$83 million.
In the meantime, Muhyiddin’s group had become “very avaricious,” according to the documents Stamford filed in court, and wanted to form a second joint venture in which they would control 70% of the shares but would pay Stamford only M$74,100 per hectare for its remaining 2,672 hectares, company officials charge.
When Stamford insisted on retaining its original 70% and on being paid M$185,250 per hectare for its property, one of Muhyiddin’s associates allegedly warned the company that the land-acquisition papers were on the former chief minister’s desk and could be “signed at any time.” Muhyiddin himself allegedly threatened Stamford in December 1992 by telling one of its directors that “time is getting short.” In July 1994, the state government acquired the land on behalf of the Johor Islamic Economic Development Corp.

In 1984, Stamford — which is 90% owned by three families, the Singapore-based Seet family, and the Gan and Wang families from Malaysia — applied to the Johor government for permission to develop a light industrial estate on part of the land. Stamford, in its suit, claims nothing happened until 1988. Then, Stamford directors met businessmen Syed Mokhtar and Datuk Yahaya, who said they were Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s “close friends and business associates,” according to the Stamford suit.
According to Stamford’s court submission, the company in late 1989 agreed with Syed Mokhtar and Datuk Yahaya, “acting for themselves and [Tan Sri Muhyiddin],” to create a joint-venture company to develop 1,766 acres of Stamford’s property. The Johor trio, led by Syed Mokhtar, invested 1.8 million ringgit in the joint venture, taking 30% of its equity; Stamford held the remainder. The joint-venture company acquired the property from Stamford and submitted a fresh application to convert it to industrial use. The Johor government then approved the conversion “speedily,” Stamford says in its suit in which it also alleges that the Mokhtar group “made a clean profit of 83.2 million.”
According to Stamford, the Mokhtar group in 1992 approached Stamford’s directors, proposing to develop the remaining 6,520 acres of Stamford’s Johor property. This time, Stamford alleges, the group insisted on taking a 70% equity stake in a new joint venture and proposed that Stamford’s land be sold to the venture at 30,000 ringgit an acre. Stamford protested that it wanted to hold 70% of the venture and should be paid more than twice that price for the land.

Embattled Women’s Minister Shahrizat Jalil received a reprieve from Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who said she could “make her decision” on whether to quit or not after a probe into the RM250mil NFC debacle was completed.
“We cannot make assumptions as the matter is still under investigations. We cannot make predictions and I cannot be prejudiced. If there are findings that certain people are involved, then Shahrizat can make her decision,” Muhyiddin told reporters in Kuantan.
His sluggish response is bound to upset Malaysians, outraged by the alleged corruption in the national cattle breeding project that was awarded to Shahrizat’s husband and children to manage. Pundits warn it may invite further criticism that Muhyiddin was out to protect Shahrizat.
“Muhyiddin is the Agriculture minister who approved the project to the Shahrizats in 2006. There is basis to the argument that it is to his benefit to help the Shahrizats. If they get off the hook, it also means he gets off the hook,” PKR vice president Chua Jui Meng told Malaysia Chronicle.
Give Shahrizat a chance?
Muhyiddin had called on all parties to be “patient” and not be “prejudiced” until investigations by police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission were completed. However, given past examples, this could easily take months if not a year.
Just a day ago, Prime Minister Najib Razak had said it was up to him whether Shahrizat could remain in the Cabinet. But other than saying it was his “prerogative”, Najib shed little light on how his administration intended to handle the matter.
However, Nazri Aziz, the minister in the PM’s Department and regarded as Najib’s spokesman, has pointed out that the Shahrizats had committed breach of trust by using the government soft loan granted to them to develop the cattle project on luxury condos, Mercedes Benz, overseas holidays, million-ringgit discounts to family-controlled firms and other non-cattle-related items.
Helping Shahrizat
In further comments that shocked the nation and caused a fresh uproar was Nazri’s call to the Shahrizats to repay the RM250million loan, and Shahrizat could keep her political positions. Shahrizat is also the head of the Umno women’s wing.
Nazri’s remarks made in an Umno-owned Malay daily were seen as a trial balloon to gauge public reaction, which if positive, the Najib administration would proceed to help Shahrizat gloss over the scrape.
“It is the most immoral statement and corrupt in itself. Two wrongs don’t make a right. If they have abused their power, Shahrizat’s family should not only pay back the loan but must be held responsible for breach of trust in the way they spent the loan on personal items not related to cattle breeding. There cannot be any compromise,” said Jui Meng.
Shahrizat has refused to step down, insisting the alleged mismanagement at the NFC had nothing to do with her. The project to develop a sustainable cattle farming industry in the country was awarded to her husband and her children, along with the government loan in 2006.
There is speculation that she will have to give up her Cabinet post by the end of this month, while moves are afoo
