Could the fortunes of Najib and Rosmah change, thanks to their trip to India

Meeting actor Rajinikanth is not in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor's itinerary during their trip to India later this week. Rosmah's aide Rizal Mansor said this in a Facebook post, denying there was a request by the couple to meet the Indian superstar.
Najib and Rosmah is scheduled for an official visit to India from this Friday until next Tuesday. The visit, at the invitation of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be Najib's third to India since assuming office as prime minister in 2009.The fortunes of Najib and Rosmah change, thanks to their trip to India to consult upon astrologers Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak gave the strongest hint yet of the election date. Like the US presidential election, he pointed to a November polls.Speaking in Sabah, Najib brought his favourite number 11 into prominence, saying that the double digits were “significant” this year because 2012 is the 66th year of Umno, with Malaysia marking the 55th year of Merdeka and Sabah Umno notching 22 years.
“All these numbers could be multiplied by 11,” he said. “Six times 11 equals 66, five times 11 equals 55 and 2 times 11 equals 22. The factor of 11 appears in all. It is unique and good.”
Even though I pay little or no attention to astrology and feng shui, it’s interesting to read what one astrologer has to say about Najib’s electoral hint.
According to astrologer Master Yuvaraj Sowma of Tamil Nadu in India, the “auspicious” election dates for Najib, based on Vedic astrology, are Nov 5, 14 and 23.
“The dates were regarded suitable when read with the Prime Minister’s date of birth – July 23, 1953,” he said.
Yuvaraj was quoted in a national daily as saying that the plus point for Najib was that he shared the same moon of Virchika (Scorpio) with Barisan Nasional, formed on July 1, 1974.
Yuvaraj said November and December appeared to be the most favourable period for Najib to call for the general election because the planet Jupiter would have a strong positive influence on his zodiac sign.
“The good period continues until May 2013 and the Prime Minister should take advantage of the favourable planetary position,” said Yuvaraj.
He said that although Barisan was expected to face a tough challenge because the planet Saturn would also have some similar influence in November, the ruling coalition would emerge better than in the last general election.
“This is simply because the ruling stars governing Najib’s horoscope are strong and favourable,” he said. Yuvaraj said the 11th month symbolises “gain and divinity” and would also be the best period to woo voters because they would be in a more cheerful mood. Whatever hint, whatever astrology may predict, one thing is certain – the 13th general election must be held before June next year.
Do politicians abroad believe in superstition?
Astrology, religion and politics have been closely linked in Hindu-majority India. Hinduism traditionally combines faith with a strong belief that cosmic events have effects on earthly life.
Apparently, the Godman predicted that Thatcher would go on to become PM and that she might remain PM for 9, 11 or 13 years. The circumstances in which this forecast was made are interesting. At the first meeting that Singh set up between the two of them in London, the godman floored Thatcher with his extra-sensory powers:

Bob Dylan almost sang, the heavens they’re a-changin’. And with it, the political landscape in India could also change. The planet Pluto, which 10 years ago was demoted by astronomers from planetary status to that of a mere heavenly body, has now regained planetary stature.
The reason that Pluto was stripped of it planetary title was because of its relatively small size, which is comparable to many other non-planet bodies found in the zone known as the Kuiper Belt.
So has Pluto put on weight in the past 10 years to attain full planetary dimensions? No, Pluto’s size remains the same as it always has been.
What has changed is the official scientific definition of what can be called a planet. A young American scientist, Kirby Runyon, has proposed that any naturally formed object in space which is of sub-stellar (smaller than a star) mass, has never undergone nuclear fusion, and has enough gravitational spin to make itself into a sphere, should be called a planet.
If this proposition is accepted by the scientific community at large, many other heavenly bodies – including our very own moon – could be redesignated as planets.
This could lead to a lot of debate and conjecture not only in scientific circles, but also in the realm of politics, particularly  politics.
Perhaps in no other country do politicians set so much store by various forms of fortune-telling as they do in India. And arguably one of the most widely used systems of predicting the future is astrology, the occult branch of the science of astronomy.
Indian politicians, across the board, rely upon astrologers to formulate their strategies, particularly when elections are in the offing: whom to ally with and whom not to ally with, what’s a good mahurat for launching their electoral campaign, what pujas or penance should be done to offset the baneful effects of adverse planetary conjunctions.
Now, however, if the skies above start teeming with a whole host new planets – thanks to the definitional change in terminology – all astrological predictions could be thrown into utter confusion.
Even skeptics who don’t believe in astrology will admit that such predictions can have a psychological effect on those who do believe in them.
For instance, a positive prediction could have the positive effective of inspiring self-confidence, which could prove to be the winning advantage over one’s opponent.
On the other hand, a negative prediction could also have a positive effect by motivating the person concerned to put in extra effort, which could result in victory. So will the new astrology created by the sudden proliferation of planets effect political fortunes in India?
Will the repeatedly faltering Grand Alliance against the BJP finally be formed, thanks to changing planetary configurations?
Will Rahul Gandhi be able to revive the moribund Congress Party?
Whatever else may or may not be safely predicted, one thing is certain. Planetary change or no, followers of the duo will remain starry-eyed about the partnership company of Modi and Shah Private Limited.
